To be Lazy or to be Healthy? That is the Question

Many people that wake up on the daily basis feel disappointed with the current state of their lives. The consistent routine of getting up, going to work, going to sleep and starting all over again has created the notion of what some may call limbo. Without a healthy balance of exercise, relaxation, nutritious eating and social activity, dissatisfaction and stress may come about quicker than we realize. Nevertheless, fret not. There is a solution to breaking out of the daily routine of being alive but not living. Some may call it common knowledge, but there are simple things that we can apply to our everyday lives to make being alive the best experience. That is why it is imperative to understand easy ways to access a healthier, more exhilarating, and overall better life.

Miranda Hitti’s, “Healthy Living: 8 Steps to Take Today,” focuses on simple steps that everyone should incorporate to relish in an exciting, healthier life. The first step is to have an overview of you, including, mind, body and soul. Whether it is a food diary, exercise log or doctor’s appointment one should keep up with his or her own physical health. Also, try to be as active as possible. An easy way to execute this is by making it fun, keeping track of all activity, setting weekly goals and working it into your everyday routine. Wellness Coach Kathianne Sellers Williams explained, “Ten percent of something is better than 100% of nothing. So even if you have 10 minutes, it's better than zero minutes.” Utilize every opportunity given to be the active star I know you can become.

In addition, checking your mood and amount of energy are also important to healthy living. Hitti conveyed, “Healthy living includes emotional wellness and adequate rest.” Sleep deprivation can have a major negative impact on your day; therefore, it is important to treat your body with enough sleep. Easy ways to achieve this is avoiding TV or computer two hours before you go to sleep, deflecting heavy exercise close to bedtime and setting a regular sleep schedule.

Furthermore, the more stable your relationships are with family and friends the healthier you become. "People have a fundamental need for positive and lasting relationships," C. Nathan DeWall, assistant professor of psychology at the University of Kentucky, explained.  When working on making your social network stronger things to keep in mind are surrounding yourself with people that bring the best out of you and building  face-to-face relationships. As the old saying goes, “You are who you hang around.” If you want to be happy and positive then surround yourself around happy and positive people; it is literally good for your health.

Moreover, the most important rule of all is that you are never too young to start living a healthier life. In actuality, the sooner you start the better you are off in the end. So go to sleep and wake up with a new outlook on life. It is time to start living.
